Numbers in the air
Sound is a physical event and a mathematical one. We listen for the patterns that make a note, a room or a recording behave the way it does.
Radio programme and journal
Pythagoras Trousers is a radio programme and journal about the ideas that move science, technology and the way people work. We follow the line from a first question to a useful answer.
Radio Conversation, evidence and doubt.
Journal Essays on science, technology and work.
Workplace Practical notes for people teams.
Pythagoras gives us a theorem: a relationship that holds whenever a triangle turns square. Trousers give us the ordinary: the clothes we put on before a day of work. The programme keeps both in view.
That pairing is the editorial rule. Ideas are welcome when they can leave the seminar room and survive the commute. Nothing is too abstract to explain, and nothing practical is too small to examine.

The programme returns to a small set of questions. Each strand can stand alone, but they tend to meet.
Sound is a physical event and a mathematical one. We listen for the patterns that make a note, a room or a recording behave the way it does.
Science does not stop at the door of the lab. We look at how evidence travels through institutions, media and everyday decisions.
Discovery is rarely a solo act. We look for the contributors behind a familiar name, especially the women whose work reached the record late or not at all, and ask what it takes for a contribution to be remembered.
Every workplace runs on assumptions about time, presence and fairness. We examine the systems that turn those assumptions into policy.
Read the workplace essayThe written edition gives an idea room to settle. The first essay looks at the systems that decide when a person can step away from work, and why those systems are trusted or quietly avoided.
Journal 01 / Workplace
Absence management is a test of trust. An essay on policy, self service and the quiet records that hold a workplace together.
Read the essayA programme is more than a recording. Ours is built in three moves, each with its own job.
Start with something a listener can recognise, then make it strange enough to examine.
Talk to someone who works with the idea, not only someone who talks about it.
Return to the listener with a change in understanding, not a slogan.
